Emerald Guitars - Made in Donegal, Ireland
We are proud to promote Irish business here at Dublin Guitar Centre, and in Emerald we have an Irish owned and operated guitar maker that is also incredibly innovative! Emerald instruments are crafted in Donegal by Alistair Hay. Made from durable carbon fibre, they are perfect for travelling and performing. We recently sold one to a US soldier who says it has met all his tonal needs and stands up to the rigours of life on tour in Afghanistan. Emerald are great sounding guitars, made in Ireland, at a fraction of the price of other carbon fibre instruments. Check one out today.
Emerald X7 with B-Band Pickup
The X7 is the perfect balance between portability playability and tone. Following on from the ever popular X5 we have created a guitar with a bigger body in both width and depth and to keep it compact we have given it a 24" scale.
With the X7 we wanted to create a compact guitar that was more than just a travel guitar, we wanted this to be a guitar that people carried with them not just because it was small but because they just love how it sounds and plays and that exactly what the X7 is. Its got a full and loud voice with clear trebles punchy mids and a good helping of bass, It's a very well balanced instrument with great note articulation so it excels as a fingerstyle guitar but it can also hold its own for strumming too.
The X7 features our innovative radius top which makes the top strong while being super light and responsive. This also plays a big part in how we are able to make such a small guitar sound so big.
It comes with an optional B-Band pickup and preamp with built in tuner that really gets the best out of this guitar giving a natural and powerful amplified sound.
The sound is big and rich for what is still a very small guitar and its light weight and compact design make it a great guitar for life on the road.

X5 Emerald with B-Band Pickup
Since the X5 was first launched back in 2006 its been a huge favourite for musicians on the move. Its compact size, light weight and super strength make it the ultimate travel guitar but on top of that it sounds and plays great too. When we first designed it we thought it couldn't be bettered but after spending 5 years building these little beauties we learned a thing or two so for 2011 we have introduced this all new redesigned X5.
So how do you make such a great little guitar better? Well we kept the original body shape and overall size but changed everything else. Its received a new neck which is now increased to 1.75" at the nut and features a new slimmer profile. We've reduced the scale length to 24" which allows us to bring the bridge further forward to a better sweet spot on the top which allows the top to work better but most noticeably we have moved the sound hole to the upper bout which creates a much larger vibrational on the soundboard. These modifications have now created an X5 that is louder and tonally much more rich, warm and balanced.
If you are looking for the ultimate compact travel guitar that you can take to the beach, keep on your yacht or just play at home while lounging on your favourite chair then the X5 may be it.
But there is another side to the X5 ... Plug it in and the superb B-Band electronics allow the X5 to punch above its weight. Plugged in it sounds as big as any of our guitars and in many ways it is one of my favourite amplified guitars. Its strong rich and punchy and its small size makes it incredibly feedback resistant. Perhaps at your next gig you might find yourself leaving your big heavy guitar case behind and just throwing your X5 over your shoulder.

T20 with B-Band Pickup
The T20 is the first of our new T series guitars. T stands for tradition and in this series we are going to offer traditional more classic shapes but still using the innovation of our unique construction methods to make great sound instruments.
We have kicked off the T series with one of the most classic and recognisable guitar shapes, the dreadnaught and gave it a little Emerald flare. We've really not messed with the classic lines at all and have given it the classic bridge style but it does feature an all new Emerald headstock.
Tonally it has all the characteristics of a dreadnaught with a big full bass rich sound but we have given a shallow radius to the top and a unique soundboard configuration that has made it incredibly balanced right across the register. The bass is not overpowering and there is great definition in the trebles which means it strums big smooth chords but also has good definition when fingerpicked.
It was hard to redesign a Dreadnaught so we didn't we just took the tried and tested design and added our unique build techniques to it and the result is pure magic!
